As the new year begins don’t allow another year to go by unsatisfied in your job! Its time to take control of your career, as its the best time of the year to be job seeking. Determine your purpose and think long term.
As the promises of a new year come round we often make resolutions, its time we make some career resolutions- and stick to them!
Here’s why NOW is the time to polish off your resume and get out in the candidate market.
As the year refreshes, management often renews their hiring budgets. It is great news for the new year job seekers, with new hiring budgets which mean employers are looking to upskill and resource departments that may have exhausted their budget the year prior.
Businesses will often finance the recruitment of new roles to improve company performance in line with new organisational objectives in the new year too.
In addition to fresh new hiring budgets, managers are also hitting a refresh on the key performance indicators of their teams. With new budgets, goals and attitudes it's often where fresh new faces and skillsets are called upon.
It’s the need for someone new, to meet the demands of the new year and the push towards a culture change. A new outlook for the team can be instrumental through the recruitment of a new person in the office. Bringing about a shift in the existing culture can be as easy as a new team member that brings new experiences and perspectives to their new colleagues.
This is again why its a great time to be in the market for a new job.
Whether it’s a change of pace, a change of perspective, or a new personality in the office, it’s a good time to be available- and bring your personality and positive attitude.
Employees won’t often leave their jobs before their bonus period, aka. Christmas. Therefore, in the new year businesses will see an increase in people resigning. It is the perfect time for you to jump on the bandwagon and make yourself available for new opportunities. As people resign its a great time to leave with your head held high.
The lead up to Christmas is often a very busy period, with lots of companies also closing over the festive period. As a result, hiring often falls to the waist side as a priority for management. As social occasions, festivities and celebrating the year takes precedence in the hierarchy of importance in the office.
It’s also a difficult time of year for management to take on new recruits. As the December month ticks along and the irregularity of the office celebrations kick in, it is a difficult time to properly induct a new hire.
As the normalcy of the workweek returns in January, businesses often find that they have a large backorder of hiring that is the first priority on management’s agenda. Good news folks!
The combined fresh hiring budgets, new company objectives and hiring backlog make the new year a wonderful time to search for a job! Now is the time to get your resume up to scratch, contact a recruiter and start the job search process.
Seize that ‘new year, new me’ mindset and make the new year the time you kick some serious career goals.
