Next in our "Meet the Team" series we have Liam in the spotlight! Liam is our awesome Javascript specialist at Circuit.

When he's not getting excited about the future of blockchain technology, Liam spends his time juggling between exploring the best of what Melbourne has to offer in terms of culture and cuisine.

Take a look at what make's Liam tick...

Tell us about your role at Circuit?

I recruit across the JavaScript space here at Circuit. The job hunt can be a stressful process, and it’s my mission to absorb as much of that stress as possible and to help identify the right opportunity for my candidates and assist them through their searching process.

What 3 things do you enjoy most about what you do?
  1. I work with an amazing team of like-minded, yet diverse individuals that make coming into the office well worth the while. Yes, it’s true that we are transitioning into a world of remote work, but we have a lot of fun in the office.
  1. I feel like every day is a school day, and it’s a good feeling to continuously be learning and improving in my role and honing my craft in the world of recruitment
  1. There’s no better feeling than finding a candidate their dream role, and them genuinely appreciating your efforts in helping them secure it.

What do you enjoy the most about working at Circuit?

As I said before, we have a great team, and it’s a really healthy environment to work in. Everyone looks out for each other and we all support each other.

The people I work with are the type of people I’d happily spend my time with away from the office.

Tell us about your proudest professional achievement?

My proudest professional achievement would be the general improvement of my organisational skills. It’s funny, before my career in recruitment, I couldn’t organize a game of snooker in a billiards club.

Now, I can be managing in excess of 10 different candidates, and It’s starting to become second nature to me.

What advice would you give to people looking for a new role?

It’s an interesting time out there on the market. Be prepared to really commit to the roles that you are applying for. This involves doing your homework and preparation beforehand. It will consume a lot of time depending on how many roles you are applying for.

It’s better to pick a few roles you are genuinely interested in than lots of roles that you only half care about. If you are working with a recruiter and they offer you preparation advice, pay attention as there may be valuable insights there.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I like to spend my free time hanging out with friends in the city. We are on a mission to find out the best restaurant in Melbourne, from personal experience.

Feel free to let me know if you have any recommendations – I’m all ears.

Which of the Circuit values resonates most with you and why? What are the values that drive you?

Transparency, for sure. I’m making every effort to be as open and honest with my candidates as I can, through the good news and the bad.

It’s always been a trait that I’ve admired in others and something that I pride myself on.
